From the Viewing Platform

This is the view from one of the viewing platforms that were set up overlooking Ground Zero.  This photo was taken on February 28, 2002.  Most of the  debris was removed and the cleanup should be finished by May, 2002. 

Another view from the platform. The World Financial Center is on the other side. Across the street at St. Peter's Church a display of banners to honor our dead. This tree, at St. Peter's Cemetery, was uprooted by the blast from  the fallen buildings New life is springing up in the cemetery. The Wounded Shepherd. The Cross of Hope. The World Financial Center under reconstruction. A northwest view from Church Street. The Millennium Hotel under reconstruction. A southwest view from Church Street. A view facing the west from Church Street. Another southwest view from Church Street. The Chambers Street-World Trade Center Station is open for business. An MTA Express Bus, traveling north up Church Street. Another southwest view. Century 21 Department Store, across the street form the WTC, reopened. The first sign of the economic revitalization of the area brings hope of more to come.
