AFTERMATH

The following photos, taken by Karl Steel, show the aftereffects of the damage to the Trade Center and the neighborhood surrounding it.   The cleanup effort may take a year or more and as of the publishing of this page, the fires are still smoldering.

FEBRUARY 2002 VIEWING PLATFORM

From the Viewing Platform

This is the view from one of the viewing platforms that were set up overlooking Ground Zero.  This photo was taken on February 28, 2002.  Most of the  debris was removed and the cleanup should be finished by May, 2002.

Another view from the platform. The World Financial
Center is on the
other side.

Across the street at St. Peter's Church a display of banners to honor our dead.

This tree, at St. Peter's Cemetery, was uprooted by the
blast from  the fallen buildings

New life is springing up in the cemetery.

The Wounded Shepherd.

The Cross of Hope. The World Financial
Center under reconstruction.
